Dania Beach, Florida
What arranging horse cremation near Dania Beach is like
Horse owners from the eastern side of Broward are often surprised by the range of prices for large-animal aftercare. Communal cremation and rendering sit at the lower end, while private cremation for a big horse costs several times more and returns a large quantity of ash. A written quote that lists collection, cremation and return of remains separately makes providers easier to compare.
Dania Beach has almost no space for large animals: the city is hemmed in by the airport, the port and the ocean. Families here who own horses usually board them further west, where Davie and Southwest Ranches keep a strong riding and small-farm culture. When a horse or goat dies at a boarding barn, the stable often has a routine, so ask the manager first, then call a provider with the barn's address.
In a place the size of Dania Beach, horse aftercare is usually arranged through the local large-animal vet, who knows which haulers and crematories actually come out this far. The nearest equine chamber may be a long drive away, perhaps near a larger center such as Hialeah, so collection can cost as much as a big share of the cremation. Ask for the haul and the cremation priced as separate lines.
Dania Beach's population is around 32,791, the 89th-largest of the 235 Florida communities we cover. Some of the providers who serve Dania Beach are based about 16 miles away in Hialeah, the nearest larger centre, so collection times reflect that drive.
The closest communities we cover are Hollywood (3 miles, a larger centre), Fort Lauderdale (5 miles, a larger centre) and Hallandale Beach (5 miles). Providers serving those towns often travel to Dania Beach too, so it can be worth asking them for a quote.

There were an estimated 6.6 million horses in the United States in 2023, down from 7.2 million in 2017.

Cremating a 1,000-pound horse was reported to cost about $600-$1,000, depending on location and the price of propane.
3-5% of body weight[4]
Embrace notes cremated remains typically weigh about 3-5% of the pet's original body weight.

Local attitudes to cremation and burial
Cremation is the usual choice for people in Florida, where about 72.5%[1] are cremated, and you'll hear it discussed openly at the barn. Even so, many horse owners here weigh it against burial, rendering and composting on cost alone, and that's a fair thing to do. US extension figures put cremating a 1,000 lb horse at about $600-$1,000[3], several times the cost of the other routes.
NFDA 2024 Cremation & Burial Report state projections (via Occasional Sage) (2024) is where the Florida figure comes from. It counts people; we use it because attitudes to cremating a pet in Dania Beach tend to follow attitudes to cremation generally.
What the seasons mean for a horse in Dania Beach
Hot, dry summers usually mean hard ground, which helps: a loaded truck is less likely to sink into a paddock in August than after a wet spell. The catch is digging. Baked clay or rocky soil can make a burial slow even with a backhoe, so if burial is your plan, ask the operator whether the ground is workable at this time of year.
In the hottest months (May, June, July, August, September and October), schedule a planned euthanasia for early morning. The ground is firmer, the air is cooler, the vet and the driver are fresher, and you're not racing the afternoon heat. Many owners book the truck for the same morning too, so their horse isn't left in a paddock through the hottest part of the day.

Cremation, burial or rendering: the costs
Why are equine crematories so scarce around Dania Beach? Partly because the market is small. By our estimate, if every US horse that died in a year were cremated at the $800 midpoint, total spending would be only about $74 million[5], too little to put a large chamber in every county. That's why the haul so often decides the price.
Rather than repeat the price table on every city page, we keep one for Florida: Florida costs. What each service includes is on the services page.

Burial and disposal rules in Florida
Rules for horses are often written for livestock, even when your horse is a much-loved pet. That's why a call to the agriculture department, county or local council is worth making before a burial or a compost pile goes in. Cremation and licensed collection avoid most of that paperwork. Here's the picture for Florida.
Florida keeps an official directory of local governments; use it to reach the county or city office that covers Dania Beach.
Start with the Florida rules, which cover burial, scattering and oversight for the whole state, and treat Dania Beach's local ordinances as a possible extra layer.
Step by step, from the field to the urn
- Book the vet and the collection together, aiming for a morning slot on one day, so there's no long gap between the euthanasia and the pickup.
- Choose the spot with the truck in mind: somewhere flat and solid, close to the gate, the drive or the barn, rather than a boggy corner far from any access.
- Measure the narrowest gate the truck must pass, and note overhanging trees, sharp bends and boggy ground.
- Give your horse a good last morning: grass, a favorite treat, a long groom. Take photos if you'd like them.
- Save tail, mane and a shoe before the vet arrives, because it's far easier to do now than with shaking hands afterwards.
- Decide who stays for loading. Plenty of owners choose to leave once they've said goodbye, and hand over to a friend or the yard manager while the driver works.
- Confirm when and how the ashes come back, plus whether the full amount is returned to you.
Ways to keep your horse close
Summer turns western Broward paddocks into shallow ponds after an afternoon storm, and heat makes delay unkind. If a large animal dies between June and October, get shade over the body quickly, keep other horses calm and away, and ask for a same-afternoon pickup. With a hurricane approaching, providers may stop running; boarding barns usually have an emergency plan worth reading in advance.

Questions people ask
When is the hardest time of year to arrange a burial in Dania Beach?
There is no frozen-ground season here; average lows stay above freezing all year. The other pressure point is August, when highs around 91°F mean a body needs cooling and collecting quickly.
Where are the providers that serve Dania Beach actually based?
Some are local, and some run from Hialeah, about 16 miles away. That is normal for a town this size. What matters is the collection time they quote for Dania Beach and whether the drive is priced into the total, so ask both up front.
Why does the Dania Beach page quote a human cremation rate?
Because it is the best local signal we have. NFDA 2024 Cremation & Burial Report state projections (via Occasional Sage) (2024) reports about 72.5%[1] of Florida residents are cremated. There is no official pet equivalent, and inventing one would be worse than quoting a real, clearly labelled number.
Which nearby towns can I compare with Dania Beach?
The closest communities we cover are Hollywood (about 3 miles), Fort Lauderdale (about 5 miles) and Hallandale Beach (about 5 miles). Providers based in those places often serve Dania Beach too. Ask each one for a written total that includes collection, so the distance is priced in.
What should I do if my horse dies in the Dania Beach summer heat?
Call for collection straight away and ask for same-day pickup. Cover the body with a light-colored tarp, rig some shade if you can, and keep other horses and dogs away. Don't try to move the body without the right equipment. If burial is your plan, book the backhoe at once, because in hot weather waiting overnight isn't kind to anyone.
How is a horse that died in a stall moved out?
Usually with straps and the truck's winch, drawing the body along the aisle and out of the door onto the truck bed. It takes time, and doorways and tight turns can make it harder. Tell the provider the width of the stall door and the aisle when you call. If you're planning a goodbye, choose a spot outside where the truck can reach easily.
