Burial is the habit in France, with a human cremation rate of about 44.91%[1], and in parts of the US a third route exists that few people mention: a permitted landfill that accepts horses, reported at about $80 to $150[5]. It isn't everyone's idea of a farewell, but for an owner under financial pressure it's a legal, low-cost option worth knowing about.
